19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
